The Trap
Here’s the thing. The refund is NOT automatic. CBP requires specific steps, and most sellers will fall into the trap of assuming their money will just show up.
To actually get your refund, you need:
- An ACE Portal account (in your legal entity’s name)
- ACH authorization (or they literally cannot pay you)
- A CAPE declaration filed through ACE
- Phase 1 timing windows met (80 days post-liquidation)
